Methodology
Rankings come from our projection model (season-long fantasy points), tiered by scoring gaps; VOR = value over replacement (points above a replacement-level player at the same position) — the standard way to compare value across positions. The board updates daily as injuries, depth charts and matchups shift. Last updated: August 18, 2026.

The raw point totals can mislead early drafters: Josh Allen projects for more fantasy points than anyone on the board, yet his VOR (141.6) trails McCaffrey and Robinson by roughly 60 points. That gap is the scarcity story — elite workhorse backs separate from replacement level far more than even a top quarterback does, which is why RBs occupy four of the top eight overall slots.
Look at the QB tier below Allen and Hurts: Mahomes, Mayfield and Lawrence are separated by just 1.4 VOR points. When the QB12 and QB4 are functionally interchangeable in value, that's a market signal to let the position come to you rather than reach early — the model is telling you replacement level is closer than the raw scoring suggests.
Tight end shows the opposite pattern. McBride's VOR of 116.1 nearly doubles the next name (Bowers at 62.5), and the four names behind him are bunched within seven points of each other. That's a classic 'one true TE1' structure — miss on McBride and the position flattens out fast, with little separating the TE2 through TE5 tiers this early in the offseason.
