The steepest value cliff on this board isn't at wide receiver — it's between the top two running backs and everyone else. McCaffrey and Robinson sit north of 199 VOR, nearly 40 points clear of Chase at wide receiver's peak, which tells you replacement-level production is scarcer at the top of the RB pool than anywhere else in this projection set.
Quarterback tells a different story. Allen's 141.6 VOR dwarfs Hurts at 84.4, but from Hurts down to Lawrence at QB5, the gap collapses to just a few points (56.9 to 55.5). That kind of clustering suggests the model sees QB2 through QB5 as functionally interchangeable — the real premium is concentrated in a single player, not a tier.
Tight end shows the sharpest positional cliff of any group here. McBride's 116.1 VOR is nearly double Bowers' 62.5, and the gap from Bowers down to Fannin at 55.5 is almost nothing. Compare that to wide receiver, where the dropoff from Chase to A.J. Brown is comparatively gradual — WR scarcity is a slope, TE scarcity looks more like a wall.
Keep in mind these are early-season, pre-snap projections rather than results from actual games, so the tiers are model estimates and will keep shifting as usage patterns emerge.
