Week 6 sits at an interesting inflection point in the fantasy calendar: five weeks of usage data is enough to start separating real role changes from early-season noise, but it's still not a full season. A running back who has seen his snap share climb in three straight weeks is showing a trend worth trusting; a receiver who had one huge game on a short sample is a different story entirely.
This is also the stretch where bye weeks begin trickling into the schedule, which quietly reshuffles matchup strength for everyone else. A defense that looked tough in Week 2 may be without a key starter by Week 6, so the opponent-strength component of a score should be read as a snapshot, not a fixed label — it moves as rosters and injuries move.
Worth watching at every position: the gap between raw volume and opportunity quality. Two running backs can have identical touch counts, but if one is getting more work near the goal line or on third downs, the underlying fantasy equity is not the same even though a simple counting stat would suggest otherwise. Rankings built on usage form try to capture some of that, but they can't fully separate touch quantity from touch quality.
As always with a five-or-six-week sample, be skeptical of anything that looks like an outlier performance driving a ranking jump. A single long touchdown or a garbage-time stat line can inflate recent form without reflecting a real change in opportunity — checking snap counts and target share alongside the ranking gives a fuller picture.
