That's not coincidence — it suggests the market has priced the position around rookie breakout narratives and touchdown-dependent upside, while quietly discounting proven, target-share-stable veterans like Kittle, Kelce, and Goedert who've cleared 60+ targets in recent seasons.
The reach list tells the inverse story. Five of the ten biggest reaches are rookies (Tuten, Hunter, Corum, Golden, Hampton) or unproven backups riding offseason buzz (Blue, Willis). Draft-class hype consistently outpaces what limited college-to-NFL translation data can support — a pattern that repeats every cycle regardless of position.
Worth flagging: names like Malik Willis and Jaydon Blue carry enormous rank gaps mostly because our board simply has no expectation of a real role for them, not because of a strong contrarian read. Gaps that size often reflect a role question more than a value edge, so the more instructive reaches are the moderate ones — Rice, Watson, Pearsall — where an established route runner is priced behind a rookie with less proven production.
The QB cluster among sleepers (Mayfield, Hurts, Nix) also deserves a second look: in single-QB formats, ADP tends to lag actual scoring efficiency at the position, since drafters anchor to name value built in prior seasons rather than current-year passing volume and rushing floor.
